A female chicken. They are pretty much ubiquitous. In-game description
The Hen is an animal in DayZ, typically found in close proximity to towns and cities. They are often covered by tall grass, which can make them hard to spot from long distances. If a player or zombie gets close to a chicken it will cluck. Unlike other wildlife once killed a chicken can be carried and stored as an item.
