“Improvised torch that will light your path in dark night. — In-game description
The Torch is a type of equipment in DayZ Standalone used to light up the environment around you while on the move.
Fueling:[edit | edit source]
When a torch is crafted: there is a white 'Fuel' state bar underneath indicating how long the Torch will burn for with its current construction materials. The more of the starting crafting material (aside from the Stick) added at the initial craft will show a longer bar. A full stack of Rags or a full Bandage roll will add more to the Fuel bar than used or depleted ones.
Initial condition of the aforementioned items also contributes to the initial length of the fuel bar with Pristine items contributing more than Badly Damaged ones. Ruined condition materials cannot be crafted into Torches or used to Refuel them.
Upgrading:[edit | edit source]
An unlit torch can be upgraded by combining the crafted torch with Fat or Gasoline and clicking Upgrade. This will turn whatever is in the inventory Fuel slot of the torch to Ruined condition but extend the white 'Fuel' state bar significantly.
Removing the Ruined state items from the inventory Fuel slot after Upgrading will make these materials unusable because they cannot be added back to the inventory Fuel slot to burn or be used in crafting another Torch.
- Note: An already burning torch cannot be upgraded further, only refueled.
Refueling:[edit | edit source]
A lit torch can be refueled by adding an individual unit or stack of whatever is in the Torch's inventory Fuel slot to burn longer. i.e. adding more Rags, Fat or Bandages to the respective stack. An already burning torch cannot be upgraded, only refueled.
- Note: Gasoline cannot be used to to refuel a burning torch.
