At the moment, they appear in equipment and consumable. - Leucetius 15:41, 8 June 2012 (MDT)

Soldier Clothing?[edit source]

In the course of playing the game, I came across a soldier outfit. It was unlike the civilian, camouflage, and ghillie sets, and featured a helmet and standard camouflaged vest, as well as leggings I believe. I'll have to go back in-game to confirm this, but, I was wondering if anyone else had seen such an outfit for players. Sharpestspoon (talk) 06:33, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Where did you find it? If it was on a body I would think possibly hacked. I'll have to check the game files. No one really knows: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/58030-soldier-clothing/ Smokie (talk) 06:58, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

I found it in an apparently abandoned tent, which was located in the woods right outside of Skalka. Inside was the soldier clothing, as well as the camouflage outfit. Sharpestspoon (talk) 15:23, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Yep, sounds hacked. Smokie (talk) 15:40, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Huh. Well, should we provide a disambiguation page or specify in equipment about the soldier clothing? Or, should we just leave it be, since it's most likely a hack? Sharpestspoon (talk) 15:45, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Not sure we want to go down the hacked gear pages rabbit hole. There are a lot of items that aren't available in DayZ that are in the base game and can therefore appear as a result of hacking and I don't think we need a page for all of them. One thing we could do is a page on hacking; how to recognize it, how to deal with it, and so on... Not how to do it obviously. - omniomi (talk) 16:26, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey its me Saphir, And i have some good news! I found that Soldier Clothing at NW Airfield, in one of the Baracks! together with M4 CCO SD and 2 Mags... and cant believe it but its still true! - 79.196.178.56 (talk) 14:08, 27 September 2012 (UTC)‎

Enthusiastic anecdotal endorsements aside, consensus remains that Soldier Clothing is not a legitimate DayZ item and must therefor have been hacked or scripted in on legitimate servers or spawned per loot tables on private hive servers. Until there is official acknowledgement or overwhelming public consensus otherwise, I can only assume that has not changed. - Christopher (talk) 21:46, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Missing item?[edit source]

I found a 300 round ammobox that takes 4 slots. I see no mention of it in the wiki but I believe it is legit as it was found at a spawnsite.

Backpacks[edit source]

Wouldn't backpacks belong better in the clothing category?

actually both. they are wearable containers and belong into clothing and equipment--TheBlackDracula (talk)

Thats true but I think that if people would look for information about BP's they would look on the clothing page. --Basinox (talk) 20:22, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Backpacks have their own page. --AnotherArk (talk) 17:38, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Categories[edit source]

Any objection to changing rope designation from 'other' to 'resource' (and add rags), pairing Duct tape with repair kits and Spraypaint with tools. --AnotherArk (talk) 17:53, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Support - Though perhaps Tools could use an overhaul, distinctly 'Other' items with no current/announced use (Hammer, Wrench, Pliers) are listed as Tools. Ipuvaepe (talk) 01:25, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
Those tools can be used as melee weapons, iirc they are here because it was decided not to include them on weapons. Btw this another reason why we need better documentation. --AnotherArk (talk) 04:11, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
spraypaint, gas canister etc are resources in my opinion. duct tape was too before the last patch--TheBlackDracula (talk)

i think every animal pelt can be crafted into tanned leather, so we can move them to the resource category--TheBlackDracula (talk)

Kitchen Knife, Improvised Knife and Steak Knife have the same characteristics of Hunting Knife? They can be considered bladed weapons? They have the same shock, damage and bleed chance? --SPiNoGOVkys (talk) 16:14, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Display Order[edit source]

Alright, let's discuss -- how should these items be ordered? Personally, I vote alpha order. I've used that everywhere else on the wiki (including other sections of this same page), and to me consistency is the most important factor in the decision. When I come looking for something, I want to find it based on its name, not a statistic (i.e. size) that isn't even visible on the page. Just my opinion, though. --Tatanko (talk) 15:45, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

I'm definitely willing to make an exception for the Weapons page though. I like that firearms are arranged by ammunition type, and I think it's communicated very clearly in that example. --Tatanko (talk) 15:47, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
If the backpacks stay in size order on the Backpack page, I agree. --Basinox (talk) 15:53, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
I can agree to that! --Tatanko (talk) 16:11, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
