The Stab Vest is a vest in DayZ Standalone and was worn by the Chernarus Police Department before the outbreak. It consists of several layers of woven para-aramid fibers which are capable of reducing the impact of knife attacks.
The anti-stab vest was created in response to a spat of knife crimes, and functions in such a way as to reduce the penetration and damaged caused by such an attack. It is not perfect however, and it offers little to no protection against firearms, so the wearer must be cautious of this fact. The most important thing to remember when wearing armor is that YOU ARE NOT INVINCIBLE; rookies tend to think they are and engage in fights they otherwise shouldn't, resulting in death and a too-late realization that body-armor negates damage, but does not eliminate it.
This is the only vest item currently in the game that provides a reduction in bleed chance. Coupled with the Riders Jacket, it also provides excellent protection against ballistic attacks.
