RGD-5 is a time-delayed Hand Grenade, a post World War II Soviet anti-personnel fragmentation grenade. It contains a 110-gram charge of TNT with an internal fragmentation liner that produces around 350 fragments and has a lethality radius of 25 metres. Typically, the RGD-5 uses the 3.2 to 4 second UZRGM fuse.

The RGD-5 Explosive Grenade is a type of weapon in DayZ Standalone. As of later Alpha patches, the RGD-5, alongside other grenades, are not functional and therefore not spawning.

General[edit | edit source]

The RGD-5 Explosive Grenade is an explosive device that can be thrown, and can incapacitate groups of hostiles.

How to Use

Prior to throwing, the grenade must have its pin pulled in order to arm the device, which is done by utilizing the action button (F by default). Grenades currently don't detonate inside the thrower's hand or next to other grenades, even when the pin is pulled. Throwing a Grenade will result in a high arc that can be difficult to predict without practice. It is advised to use grenades outside, as most walls and floors will block the damage of the explosion. The use of a grenade on an entrenched enemy/player can cause instant death, unconsciousness, injury, or hearing loss/blurred vision that can make flanking or charging the target easier or more effective. Careful judgement about your distance to the explosion needs to be considered especially if you are throwing without cover as the damaging radius of the grenade is around 6.5m. Grenades only deal damage to the legs and feet of their victims. The distance the grenade is thrown at is able to hurt you so in order to avoid this throw from behind cover or run away from the direction thrown.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The RGD-5 Explosive Grenade was based off of its real-world counterpart which is a post-World War II Soviet anti-personnel fragmentation grenade, designed in the early 1950's
