The Mosin 91/30 is a firearm in DayZ.

Overview[ | ]

The Mosin 91/30 is a powerful mid-game, medium to long-range rifle chambered in 7.62x54mmR. The Mosin is sought as a strong choice for its accuracy and stopping power against fellow Survivors, however its limited internal magazine capacity, slow bolt-action mechanism and long length makes it unsuitable for close-range encounters.

The Mosin can have multiple attachments for increased range, recoil control, suppression or increased weapon melee damage. It can also be sawn off using a Hacksaw for an 'Obrež' configuration, trading long-range capabilities to increase the maneuverability in close-quarters situations.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The gun is based on the Mosin-Nagant M1891/30, which is an upgraded version of the original '1891' variant introduced in 1930 and 1931. The real rifle's rear sight can be set up to 2000m.
  • Prior to Beta, it was named the 'Mosin 9130'.
  • Previous attachments included the Long Range Scope and ATLAS Bipod, but were unable to be attached in and beyond patches 0.57 and 0.45, respectively. The weapon could also be spray-painted green, black, or camo with the Spraypaint.
  • The rifle's in-game receiver is "hexagonal", with the front-receiver bridge being angled into half a hexagon, rather than round. The in-game models barrel date matches the period of transition to round receivers, though common production of hex receiver rifles continued for several years. Older hex receivers were commonly rearsenaled through WWII and received new barrels with new date stamps.
  • The in-game model features a bent-bolt handle, while in real life only PU Sniper models have a bent-bolt handle. It is also much shorter than an actual PU sniper's rifle bolt handle would be.
