Intended as non-leathal weapons, Items classified as Prod are primarily used to incapacitate other players. With an energy source attached, these weapons can knock down a player almost immediately regardless of how healthy they are. There is also a slight chance that using these against other players can cause the player to go into fibrillation which can have long-lasting effects on a player's health. Use of these weapons is not recommended against the infected as it has little effect on them.

Revision as of 15:53, 24 March 2017

All items that can be used as or are melee weapons have a damage type. An item's damage type is the representation of the kind of damage or injury it inflicts on players or entities. The damage type sets the amount of damage an item does to each of a player's health stats or to a hostile entity.

Damage Types

All items and weapons within a damage type do the same amount of damage (listed below). The values listed below are the maximum that the object or weapon can do.

Blunt

Blunt-type items are tools or weapons used to bludgeon other players or entities. Relative to other melee weapons, blunt weapons have a smaller chance to cause a player to bleed and do not deal much damage to a player's Health or Blood stats. What blunt weapons lack in Health and Blood damage, they make up for in Shock and Hit damage, making them excellent tools for knocking down other players .

Bat

Items that are classified as Bats make solid weapons with decent speed, range and damage.

Light Blunt

Items classified as Light Blunt are tools or objects that were not designed to handle much stress and, as such, make poor melee weapons.

Blunt

Items that are classified as Blunt are generally small bludgeoning tools. Lacking range and damage, they are overall weaker than their Heavy Blunt and Bat counterparts.

Heavy Blunt

The work horse of blunt weapons, items that are classified as Heavy Blunt are the second hardest hitting of all the non-powered melee weapons. A single well-placed hit to the head will often knock down players and infected alike.

Bladed

Bladed items are tools or weapons that can be used to chop or slash other players or entities. Excelling in Blood and Health Damage, bladed weapons deal lasting damage to players and almost always cause them to bleed. Lacking mass behind their hits, bladed weapons do not cause as much Shock damage as Blunt weapons and may require several hits before a player falls unconscious.

Slash

Items classified as Slashing are generally knives not designed with combat in mind. While these weapons do a solid amount of Blood and Health damage, they do an incredibly small amount of Shock damage, making a knock out extremely difficult.

Heavy Slash

Items classified as Heavy Slash are heavy tools meant to hack through thick or dense materials. While they have significantly better damage dealing capability than their Slashing counterparts, players may still find it difficult to knock down other players with these weapons.

Chop

The "bread and butter" of DayZ melee weapons. Items classified as Chopping are the most well rounded, flexible melee weapons in the game. Right down the middle in terms of damage, Chopping weapons have the most variety of range, speed and utility.

Heavy Chop

The hardest hitting of all non-powered melee weapons in DayZ, there is only one item classified as Heavy Chop; The Firefighter Axe. Dealing an incredible amount of Shock, Blood and Health damage, players should be wary of engaging other players equipped with the Firefighter Axe.

Piercing

Piercing-type items are tools or weapons used to stab other players or entities. Lacking in damage relative to all other melee weapons, Piercing-type weapons make up for it in either speed or range.

Stab

Items classified as Stabbing do not cause much Shock, Blood or Health damage, but are generally faster than other melee weapons.

Powered Weapons

The most powerful melee weapons in DayZ, these items can very quickly kill or incapacitate players and entities. While these weapons can be used on their own, in order to get the full effect of these weapons, they must have an energy source (either gasoline or a battery).

Prod

Intended as non-leathal weapons, Items classified as Prod are primarily used to incapacitate other players. With an energy source attached, these weapons can knock down a player almost immediately regardless of how healthy they are. There is also a slight chance that using these against other players can cause the player to go into fibrillation which can have long-lasting effects on a player's health. Use of these weapons is not recommended against the infected as it has little effect on them.
