Background[edit | edit source]
The real Izh43 is a side-by-side shotgun utilizing two separate triggers - one for each barrel. It also features chrome plating for both bore and chamber to resist corrosion and standard threading for choke tubes. This shotgun has been offered with barrels of varying size to suit different uses: 20" (50.8cm), 24" (61cm), 26" (66cm), and 28" (71.1cm). The standard model in-game appears to be based on either the 24" or 26" version.
Above all else, this gun is known for its durability. Soviet dedication to simple, reliable, inexpensive designs is just as evident here as it shows in the AK family of guns. It has few fancy tricks and brings with it no special qualities, it simply guarantees to get the job done no matter what.
Strategy[edit | edit source]
The IZH-43 is best suited for close- to mid-range confrontations. It is a strong coastal weapon, as it is a relatively common find in civilian weapon spawn locations, and both 12 gauge boxes and assorted stacks of ammunition are not rare either. However, the weapon is heavily hindered by the two-round capacity and the short effective use range. In close-range encounters below 50 meters, this weapon can cause tremendous damage if not kill a player outright, but past 75 meters, it falls off significantly, only serving to suppress or possibly disable an opponent.
With the use of a hacksaw the shotgun can be modified by shortening the barrel and removing the stock into Sawed-off, making the weapon significantly lighter and more compact, able to be placed into many backpacks. It is extremely lethal at 5-10 meters, but should only be considered a last resort in engagements past that range.
