Controls Options

Here you will find a listing of the various Game Controls available for use and assignment in DayZ Standalone.

Before jumping into the game, you'll need to familiarize yourself with the basic controls including the ability to move your character and interact with your environment. You can access these key assignments by visiting the Controls section of the Configuration menu, which you can from the in-game menu using the Esc key or from the game's main menu. Additional controls can be accessed via the drop-down menu at the top of the key assignment screen. You can reconfigure the controls based on your own personal preferences. The tables below show the default key assignments for the game.

Console players using a mouse and keyboard cannot change any keybindings at this time.

Movement

E	Lean Right (double-tap to toggle)
L ctrl	Walk/Jog (hold for temporary; double-tap to toggle)

⇪ Caps Lock	Hold to speak in voice chat. Double-tap to toggle voice chat on/off.
⬆️ Tap	The up arrow key switches the players voice volume. It has three settings to choose from, whispering, standard, and yelling.

Zombies are now attracted to the sound of a survivors voice.

• Whispering has a voice range of 7 meters.
• Default has a voice range of 25 meters.
• Yelling has a voice range of 45 meters.
• The further a survivor/infected are from the source, the quieter it will be.

Additional Gestures

These gestures are not bound to any key by default, and must be assigned by the user (typically in place of an existing gesture assignment). In Experimental, new gestures have been rebound to existing keys, while some are still unavailable by conventional means.
