Water purification tablets are used to chemically disinfect water from untreated sources for drinking purposes. — In-game description
Chlorine Tablets, commonly known as water purification tablets, are used to disinfect unclean water in canteens, bottles, canisters and even barrels. Water is often unclean when it comes from a looted water container, watering trough, pond or river. By drinking such unclean water, the player has a high chance of contracting cholera. However, it is not necessary to purify water that comes from a water pump, as this is always clean, drinkable water. In addition to cholera, these chlorine tablets will also remove any other pathogens, such as salmonella and influenza, from the water.
Tip: When you loot a player, and they have a container filled with water, empty or purify it. You never know where they got it from, so it might be unclean or contaminated water.
