The 9V Battery is an item used to power electrical devices in DayZ Standalone. The battery can be attached and detached, and when in use its charge will gradually decrease until it becomes useless. The physical condition of the battery does not affect its charge. The battery can be attached to powered items by clicking and dragging it over the items. To detach the battery, right-click the item that contains the battery and select Detach Alkaline Battery 9V.

A player can determine if a charge is still present by licking the battery. This may cause the character to have a sudden, and sometimes fatal heart attack. To lick the battery, right-click it and select Lick.

  • Up until 0.57, players spawned with a Flashlight that also included a 9V Battery. That combination was instead replaced with a Chemlight, and then in 0.58 replaced again with a Road Flare.
