Compact version of AK74, with folding buttstock and short barrel.

This is the carbine version of the AK-74, the successor to the AKM. It uses the smaller 5.45x39mm. The shorter length makes it better for close quarters or indoor combat.

The sights are arguably better at quick target acquisition than the full size AK-74, however this rifle is also far less accurate, mostly owed to the shortened barrel and much reduced sight radius. The dispersion of the KAS-74U is significantly higher than most other automatic weapons. Both stock and naked its dispersion is twice that of the AK74, and three times fully equipped - before a bipod. This does not make the KAS-74U a poor weapon, but unless used as a secondary weapon to a Mosin, SKS, et cetera it is recommended to switch to another assault rifle when possible.

The KAS-74U is one of only three automatic weapons without a replaceable hand guard, PM73 RAK, and Steyr AUG are the other two.

NOTE: As of Version 1.0.150000 the AKS-74U is not spawning on vanilla servers and any data regarding it may be obsolete.
