A watch can be used to see the current server time, which determines whether it is day or night. As with many other tools, it can be viewed momentarily by holding the hotkey (default "O") or by double-tapping the hotkey to toggle on or off. The watch glows green in reduced light, making it useable at night.
Watches take up one tool slot and are fairly common in most spawn locations.
