Vegetation is fundamental part of the DayZ Standalone environment similar to Animals.
General
Plants can be found in every part of Chernarus with the obvious exception of the sea. The vegetation in DayZ follows the natural order and it can be divided into broud-leafed trees and conifers etc.
A large part of the northern area is covered by coniferous or mixed forests, known as the Black forests because of their depth and inviolateness. The southern part of the Northern Province suffered through thoughtless construction, so that the original coastal fauna and flora can only be found sporadically, mostly aside the mainland. The best known such place is the Skalisty Island, which during the start of the 90's was declared a nature preserve within the frame of the newly declared Zagorie Protected Natural Area.

Various kinds of trees and bushes can be cut down by survivors to produce wood and picked for fruit.
- Berries - Blue Berries can be harvested from Sambucus Bushes, Red Berries from Canina Bushes
- Apple - can be harvested from Apple Trees
- Ashwood Stick - can be achieved by chopping down Ashwood Trees
- Firewood - can be achieved by chopping down a tree using a Firefighter Axe or Splitting Axe
- Wooden Stick - can be achieved by splitting Firewood or chopping down a bush.
Notes
Since the DayZ Mod it was possible to harvest firewood. In the Standalone it was possible to collect berries since the patch 0.32.114557 from different bushes. Since 0.45 Chopping firewood and making kindling from smaller bushes is possible.
