Terminology

Commonly used Terms, Abbreviations and Acronyms for DayZ Standalone (DayZ SA) as opposed to the DayZ Mod.

General

• Aggro - referred to an NPC, which enter a state of aggressiveness in which they will chase and attack a player.
• BB - stands for Blood Bags, used to restore Blood
• Friendly Dance - It involves using the Q and E buttons repeatedly to lean left and right, to "wiggle" your body to show someone that you are a Friendly with no hostile intent.
• Loot - Refers to weapons, food, ammo, or gear that you can find.
• KoS - "Kill on Sight". The act of killing other players immediately without bothering to find out their intentions.
• LoS - "Line of Sight"
• Zombie, Zed - Common slang for infected individuals.

Players and Play styles

• Bambi/Noob - Players who have recently started out. They generally have little gear or supplies and often have no idea where they are or what they are supposed to be doing.
• Bandit - Players who hunt down and kill other players for the fun of it. They will often kill on sight.
• Friendly - Players who have no hostile intentions towards you.
• Hero - Friendly players, who help other players e.g. killing Bandits, helping Bambies get gear, or saving Bambies from Zeds.

Locations

• Cherno - Shorthand for Chernogorsk, the largest city in Chernarus.
• Novo - Shorthand for Novodmitrovsk, the second largest city in Chernarus.
• Elektro - Shorthand for Elektrozavodsk, the third largest city in Chernarus.
• Svetlo - Shorthand for Svetlojarsk, A major city in Chernarus.
• NWAF - Northwest Airfield, the International Airfield.
• NEAF - Northeast Airfield, Krasnostav Airstrip.
• BAF - Balota Airfield, Balota Airstrip.

Servers

• Hardcore Server - A type of server on which you cannot use 3rd person view. This term is no longer used officially and instead servers are referred to as "1st Person" or "1st/3rd Person", but you may still here people refer to 1st Person-only servers as "hardcore".
• Low Pop \ High Pop - Refers to the number of people in a server (its "population"). Generally speaking, low pop servers are near-empty and high-pop servers are full or near-full.

Cheats\Exploits

• Hacker - A player who uses hacks or client modifications to get an advantage over other players.
• Combat Logging - When a player in the midst of combat logs out from the server to escape danger.
• Ghosting/Ghost killing - The act of spotting another player and proceeding to switch servers to get a tactical advantage over said player and then killing them.
• Server Hopping - The act of switching from server to server to gather loot.
