Standard issue USMC designated marksman rifle. Powerful and accurate at range.

The mil-dots in the DMR's scope can be used to estimate your distance from a target. This allows you to zero the rifle with little difficulty. [1]

The DMR mildot sight is zeroed in for 400 meters. This means the center of the sight will hit at 400 meters. There's two ways to aim using the mildot sight.

One could guesstimate the mils. When doing so, the first, second, third and fourth mildots are respectively at ranges 400, 500, 600, and 700 meters (while zoomed in). The bottom of the sight (the bar below the lowest mildot) is at the 800 meters mark. Beyond that, the mildots run out, so it becomes near impossible to reliably hit targets past the 800 meters mark. By using this method (guesstimating), it's possible to hit a target by aiming at the torso. The shot will land between the neck and upper legs area. So it's not a very reliable method to aim, but it can get the job done.

The second way to aim with the DMR scope is to use accurate mil settings to hit more accurately. The mil settings for the DMR are as follows (while zoomed in):

Mils - Range

0 - 400m

1.3 - 500m

2.7- 600m

4.2 - 700m

5.8 - 800m

See the picture below for a representation of the DMR mildot sight. The DMR scope can be used in conjunction with the Night Vision Goggles, while some other scoped weapons cannot.
