Antibiotics are medical items in DayZ that are used to treat infection.

Antibiotics are the only item that can treat an infection.
They are uncommon and are found most commonly in Hospitals, but also in other loot piles. They can sometimes be found at millitary loot spawns, especially airfields.
A player has a small chance of getting infected when hit by a Zombie while bleeding, or when near an already infected Player while the player's Temperature is below 34°C, or otherwise very low.
An infected player loses Blood continuously but slowly down to a blood level of 6 000. Beside this effect, the Player coughs regularly.

- Antibiotics are only effective against bacterial infection; viral infections require an antiviral drug and are not affected by antibiotics.
