Weapons

From DayZ Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search
This page covers the Standalone version of DayZ. For information on the Mod see Mod:Weapons

Weapons are any wield-able items that the Survivors can use to inflict damage in combat (e.g. against Bandits, other Survivors, and Zombies). Note, that while most Tools can be used as effective melee weapons they aren't listed here.

All weapons in DayZ Standalone are modeled after their real world counter parts and they behave as such. There are several types of weapons they are grouped here by their usefulness in close combat (melee) or at a distance (ranged).

Melee Weapons[edit | edit source]

Each melee weapons will have different damage, attack speeds and reach. Melee weapons are silent weapons and require no ammo to operate. While a well placed hit to the head can result in unconsciousness, Stun baton will do it every time. Note: that most Tools can be used as effective melee weapons as well and Bladed weapons can be used to open canned goods.

Ranged Weapons[edit | edit source]

Ranged weapons shoot damaging projectiles at targets from a distance. Ranged weapons come in many variations such as Bows, Handguns, Shotguns , Submachine-Guns and Rifles. Each weapon varies in damage, accuracy, noise levels and attachment compatibility, as well as ammunition types. Ranged weapons require ammunition to be of any use, and can be noisy attracting unwanted attention from zombies and bandits alike(with exception of bows and silencers), but allow the safety of attacking from a distance.
